If pictures speak a thousand words, then video blogging speak a million! Video blogging is the new hot way of posting ideas and products over the internet for everyone to see.
Instead of writing about what you feel or are trying to sell, you can make a video. It’s no mystery that people are much more likely to watch something than read it, it’s just more effective and much more entertaining. Also, it’s a great way to keep your personal blog interactive, and an even better way to market and promote your small or large business.
Getting started is easy. All you need is an idea, a camera, and some simple software. If the video is for a personal blog, pretty much any equipment will do. However, if it’s for a business blog, you will want it to look more professional and may want to invest in a high quality video camera or a digital camera that takes videos.
Also, good lighting, creativity, and perhaps even a microphone can make a big difference. As for the software, you can either use Windows Movie Maker (which comes with Windows XP operating systems) or another program to upload and edit your videos.
After the video is uploaded to your computer, there’s just one more step…uploading it to your blog. Many blog hosting sites allow you to do this with a click of a button. If the blog hosting site that you use doesn’t, or you’re not sure how to do it, you can easily upload the video to YouTube and then place it on your blog from there by simply copying and pasting an embedded HTML code. Also, if you want to know how to add videos from YouTube to your blog (whether they are your videos or not), be sure to check out my tutorial on how to add YouTube videos to your blog.
Just like other blogs, video blogging can be fed through RSS or Really Simple Syndication. RSS feeds allow readers to subscribe to your blog and get updates whenever you add something to the blog. This way you don't have to send out emails or newsletters everytime you make a post.
The Business of Video Blogs
As I said before, video blogs are a great way to keep your personal blogs interactive, and an even better way to market and promote your small or large business. Thinking from a business standpoint, video blogging offer many benefits. They allow you to show your prospective customers your line of products and services. Basically, it's just like showing a commercial, but instead of paying thousands or even millions of dollars, you can do it pretty much for nothing.
People like to see what they are going to buy. Some like to see proof and be sure that a product or service works before dishing out their dimes on it. We are all well aware of the influence that a thirty second commercial can have on the human brain. Well, the effect of video blogging can be very similar to that if you want it to be. You show your product, and people watch it. If they like it, they buy it.
If you present it good enough, they'll buy the product even if they don't need it. That’s how we work, and that’s how businesses need to approach video blogging. Once you have your video blog up and running, be sure to submit your videos to YouTube if you haven’t already done so. If you don’t know how to do that, move onto my tutorial on how to upload videos to YouTube. Also, be sure to check out VidBlogs.com and add yours to this extensive directory of video blogs.
